I am wondering what changes will occur when President Elect Barack Obama and Joe Biden take office after the Inauguration on January 20, 2009. Many noticeable changes have already taken place since their election as they make transition from one administration to the next. America is being prepared for an overhaul like it was an old '57 Chevy being taken to the garage to be rebuilt.
Some very important issues relative to rights, freedoms, the constitution and how the administration will relate and how they will govern will be on the forefront of our concerns.
Free assembly is still the most basic crucial right for all people. Protected under laws as a basic tenet to the American people, this is one right we will strive to protect and secure even further. Given our work with the Forest Service regarding the free assembly of the people on national forest system public lands over the past twelve years, it is the heart of our struggle.
36 CFR 251 & 261.10(k) loom on the horizon as either a great obstacle or a great triumph as we work to secure better written legislation governing this basic right of assembly. This next four years will be an intense focus for us.
It will begin and end in Washington DC before the House of Congress. Walk with us as we continue the journey back to the rights afforded when this great nation was founded by many of our forefathers and foremothers.
We are attempting to secure appointments with Senators regarding efforts to convince the next Undersecretary of Agriculture to give us voice now that Mark Rey has ended his seven year term and become a private citizen, as of yesterday January 9, 2009.
Letters are being written to Senators, Congressmen and women, the Governor of New Mexico Bill Richardson, and citizens of this country to encourage continued dialogue on these regulations that have plagued the people who gather for spiritual worship and peaceable assembly every year in our national forests.
Watch for updates on the meetings that result from this effort. Letters will be posted in pdf file attachments as soon as I am able to transfer those files and finish making contact.
Come back to look for updates often. Tell us how you feel about free assembly as a first amendment right and tell us how this affects you if it is restricted.
Thanks for visiting.
