“One who whispers on the wind before the dawn “Speaks
The high waters come at dawn. When most of the children will still be asleep.
It is when the sun rises and reaches it’s first crest above the horizon.
Wenablee. Atanake teopee.(generations of sisters, mothers, daughters, granddaughters who come)
Medicine men pray as the sun rises
They are awake but most peoples are still sleeping.
The wind stirs in a way that is not common for the dawn.
A breath comes on the wind speaking words that bring chills to the medicine men.
Hearing the spirit talk in such a way causes the medicine men to change the ceremony
On this morning .
Th e moon is not yet full.
The sun is three moons past an eclipse and before the harvest season.
The spirit voice whispers louder now and the wind goes stronger.
Words fall on the ears of the medicine man in this lodge north of Cheyenne
His prayers send the voice to the others in tribes around the nations.
All hear in the early morning the report of one who is coming.
His pipe is made of Anatchee (all blood of all peoples who live on earth)
The fire in it has been out for many years..for two generations.
He comes whispering a song of peace that peoples have no ears to hear
And eyes do not see the spirit who comes whispering in the dawn.
The Cheyenne medicine man will call a council of elders to tell the story of the vision
And the story of the visitation of this spirit
Vision quest will come.
The spirit will come to the fire and speak to all the nations of the tribes that come to the fire.
His presence will make them open their eyes when in full trance.
The vision will carry their memories back to the days of the ghost dance
Where many relatives left their blood on the soil as a reminder of the sacrifice
It takes at times to cleanse a nation and to heal wounds of many generations.
The spirit calls for all medicine men of all tribes to honor their ancestors this day.
Call a circle. Call a praying circle. Stand together in the circle. Play the drums.
See with spirit. See the vision. Hear the songs. Hear the voices of the ancient ones who
Walk in the spirit world waiting for the circle to come. The ancient ones wait for the one who whispers in the wind before dawn to come and open the eyes of a nation, to
Heal the hearts of a people walking in sleep.
As the drums begin to sound the song of the healing of nations the children in camp
Who are asleep will wake up. Sleep will be in their eyes. Healing clay will clean the eyes
And the blindness will leave them. Then they will see. The sleeping children will see. Great grandfather is standing before them in the circle of the smoke of the fire…
He is smiling. His love surrounds all the nations. His children have come together once again. There will be no more war. There will be no separation. All are one. We are all relations. Great grandfather is glad. His face is smiling as he walks to the sunrise whispering .
I hear you talking to me at midnight. Your voice came in a whisper and asked me to tell the people what you had to say this night. Listen. Hear the words of tah antakeelan wah
Do not wait for the medicine men to call the circle. Come now. The medicine is for all. I speak for someone whose spirit whispers in the night about one who comes whispering on the wind before the dawn. Yehn toh ahnay toh ya. My voice is one for all peoples. Given by Naomi and
